Abstraction métaphysique – 2007 – 2008
One can no longer speak of abstraction here, as the composition and form of the graphic elements betray the inspiration of the landscape. But can we say that Thierry Virton is painting real landscapes here? The metaphysical dimension of these « blocks » suggests an initiatory mental journey that leads to meditation, to appeasement, to awareness of oneself and the world. This work foreshadows the spiritual relationship that his current creations have with nature, ancient peoples and in particular the treatment of landscape.
