Neo-expressionism abstract paintings

Abstraction néo-expressionniste – 2011 – 2013

The abstract works show a gesture that now takes precedence over colour. The need to « speak » and deliver a message is a new component of the works created during this period. The environmental concern is at the heart of this work. Thierry Virton draws his inspiration from the unfortunate events of this period, and the Fukushima disaster in particular. The paintings were born out of these tragedies and express the sadness and violence felt. The brutality of the events led to a radical change in the stylistic treatment, giving way to a raw and dark abstract expressionism.
